Olives and Oprah. These were the first signs of my pregnancy. One morning nine months ago, I woke up craving olives for breakfast. I sat writing at Panera, stopping at times to observe the soft shadow of a wall sconce. A dense window separated me from an unrelenting afternoon rain. I heard rushed footsteps and the slow sigh of the cafe door wedging open and close…open and close.
